i-Rocks AC/USB Charger / Power Adapter Review

Another goodie that I bought from NCIX!

i-Rocks Charger Ac/USB Power Adaptor

(Yes, the name on the packaging spells adapter wrong, typical Chinese product)

Specs (shown on the back of the adapter):

  • Model: IR-1050
  • Input: AC100~240V   50/60Hz 0.2A
  • Out: DC5. 2V +/- 5%    700mA
  • Indoor use only

So, I decided I needed a AC-USB charger since it was kind of annoying having to plug my iPod Touch into the computer all the time and hogging my USB hub. I saw these ones for sale for $6.99 at NCIX with the original price being $10.43. It was a steal compared to other ones “designed for iPods” at $20 +.

It came with a small packaging; the usual hard plastic stuff that’s been sealed off and a card in the middle showing its specs. I cut open the packaging to pull out a small cube like plug about the size of a pocket size bottle of lotion. The plug is stored away and swings out to be plugged in. A green LED light shows that there is power running through this small adapter and voila! you’re good to go. Just plug in the USB cable and you’re charging in no time!

I’ve tested it out on my iPod Touch and it too about 3 hours for a charge that started at about 10% battery life left. Going to get a benchmark test through my computer to see any significant changes in charging times.

So..I’ve done the test by charging through my laptop and there aren’t any significant changes. It takes about 3 hours to fully charge my iPod Touch. I guess that the usb can only input so much power and that silly battery takes that long.

Nonetheless, it is much more convenient and very useful, especially on vacations where you need some quick juice for your usb powered electronics!

POOO!

FIRST POST AS AN AUTHOR! MORE TO COME! =)

Sennheiser PC 350, Logitech MX Revolution, AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D

Hey hey hey! New toys to play with! Recently got the Sennheiser PC 350 headset, the Logitech MX Revolution wireless mouse, and today the Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D lens. More to come in the next few days, or weeks, or whenever I have time to update! =D

Still here…

Hey! I’m still here in case whoever comes here and suspects that I fell off the edge of the world. Been up to several things, none of which involves me working hard at blogging. But! I have been working on several drafts and another idiotic ideas here and there. And right now I’m trying to figure where I can get a replacement CPU fan for my laptop, the Acer Aspire 5002WLMi. Sure the fan cleaning post I typed and performed worked, but if I recall there was a part two to that post (which is still in draft mode). In a nutshell, after cleaning and testing to see if it all worked, I came to the conclusion that my fan was slightly…broken. I’m a hundred percent certain the cleaning process did nothing to break it, but I’m thinking it may have been broken from being overworked so much or something far-fetched like that. It still spun like it should but something was clearly wrong and that didn’t exactly make me happy.  Anyway, after testing out several small fixes, I gave up and decided to find out the brand of the CPU fan and model. Oddly, now that I’m typing and recalling the incident, I’ve realized that it never occured to me that I could have simply Googled the answer. No, I spent a good portion of the night trying to figure out how to take apart the entire laptop to find out the brand and model of the CPU fan. Silly ain’t it? Anyway, onwards with the hunt to find a compatible and inexpensive CPU fan replacement!

Computer parts complete!

I’ve just come back after an excruciatingly hot day of computer parts shopping, and all the parts are complete! …I hope. Anyway, I’ll update later with some pictures and whatnot.

LG GH22LP20

So just what was the brand and model of the optical drive I got for free? Well here it is now, the LG GH22LP20. I’m not sure how well it performs, but from reviews I’ve come across online it seems decent enough. If it gets the job done for me, hey, I’m happy. Anyway, check out the link to see the specifications. I’ll post some pictures up when I’m more awake.

On a totally unrelated note, the mecha that Domo was attempting to eat is from UFO Robot Grendizer.

Freebie of the day…

for me. I have myself an optical drive now, and all for the price of zero dollars. My dad didn’t want the optical drive he bought two months ago. Its black and his entire tower is white/beige colored; he said it would look ugly and throw off the scheme. So he decided to give it to me and he’d go buy another one, this time one with a color that’ll match the color scheme of his case. Still brand new, I’m looking forward to installing it when everything’s been purchased.

Western Digital Caviar Black

Western Digital Caviar WD1001FALS. Managed to get myself one today because it was on sale for $96.99. I also wanted to grab a WD Caviar Green which was going for $88.99, but I didn’t. I got the more expensive one, which totally goes against my entire being. Anyway, I won’t be taking it out of the package any time soon. The other computer parts are still missing; ie., the entire thing’s nonexistent. Also wanted to get an Asus monitor but they sold out. I’m not surprised, only 20 and going for $169.99.

Drivers don’t run red lights….

direction-of-car-avoiding-red-light

C = Stopped cars
C← = Car moving left
↓ = Direction of car in subject
So the scenario is this, vertically moving cars are stopped both ways because there’s a red light and it’s green light for the horizontally moving cars. Well, what does this particular vertically going car do? Make a right turn, and make another right turn to turn into the intersection where all the vertically moving cars have stopped. All that done while there was an oncoming car going horizontally. Just one of the few things people do to avoid a red light.

revoltech saber

Alright, I have my camera back but it’s too hot and the odd scent of manure has permeated throughout my room thus making me even more lethargic than usual. So I grabbed the camera nearest me, which I also got back last night (goodness, it had totally slipped my mind that I lent TWO cameras to my sister), and I took just several pictures of Saber.

I like how this memory card shows up on my computer as NIKON D80, when it was used in a Canon camera. Nikon ftw!
